Former POISON/MR. BIG Guitarist Signs European Solo Deal With FRONTIERS
June 17, 2003Former POISON/MR. BIG guitarist Richie Kotzen has signed a solo deal with Frontiers Records for the European release of his newest solo effort, "Change".
Richie started his career at the age of 17 when he released for Shrapnel Records his self-titled debut album gaining great attention from the media who described his style as a cross between Steve Vai and Joe Satriani.
Later he enjoyed worldwide success with the band POISON with whom he released the album "Native Tongue" (1993),which achieved platinum worldwide sales, and produced two U.S. top twenty singles, which Richie co-wrote ("Stand" and "Until You Suffer Some (Fire and Ice)" ). In 1999, he become part of MR. BIG, releasing with them two studio albums ("Get Over It" and "Actual Size") and touring in Japan and East Asia in front of hundreds of thousands fans.
As a solo artist he released during the years six albums with different music styles ranging from blues, to hard rock, funky and seventies influenced music.
"Change" is a definite return to top form for Richie who is able to offer his fans a very interesting collection of songs ranging from classic and melodic hard rock to acoustic interludes (the album includes also an acoustic rework of the last MR. BIG hit "Shine") and instrumental extravaganza. Definitely his best solo album to date, "Change" will please both MR. BIG fans and his solo career existing fan base.
